Committee Mtg No 5

Insya-Allah, even though the website remained static for a long time, ATACE operated as usual and had successfully organized two major events, School Holidays Tahfiz Programme (26-May to 4-June) and Tahfiz Appreciation Programme (1-May).

Committee Mtg No 5

Prior to the two events, on 24-March-2008, ATACE sent eight students to Daruzzakah in Kuala Lumpur to attempt hafazan test, juzu’ one to five, organized by Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (MAIWP). Being MAIWP, to sit for the test, the students must reside in Kuala Lumpur. So we managed to gather only eight students who reside in Kuala Lumpur, qualified and ready to attempt the test. The bulk of our students reside in Selangor, under the jurisdiction of Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor (JAIS).

Alhamdulillah, seven of the eight students passed the test. We wish to congratulate our eight heroes and heroines.

Committee Mtg No 5

On 23-June-08, Tn Hj Mohamed Isa (Chairman of the Kelab Kelas Tahfiz PIBG, SMIAA) and I went to JAIS in Shah Alam to enquire about similar hafazan test for our students who reside in Selangor.

JAIS said no. They only cater for 18 years old and above. Sensing our disappointment, the officer suggested us to go to JAKIM instead.

From Shah Alam, we drove on to Putrajaya, Parcel D7, where we located JAKIM’s office. In JAKIM’s office, we talked to Ustaz Zaini; he spared 30 minutes with us discussing the best approach to get ATACE’s students to attempt the hafazan test. And he suggested that we write to JAKIM with the request.

Just before leaving, I asked Ustaz Zaini for his call card. He went into his office, came back, and handed me his call card. The card says, Mohd Zaini bin Ramli, Penolong Pengarah.

And we were also told by another officer at the office that Ustaz Zaini is a hafiz.

Penolong Pengarah and a hafiz spending his precious time enthusiastically exchanging ideas with us for ATACE, we felt honoured. Alhamdulillah, Allah blessings manifest in its mysterious way.

Memorization session in the cabin

Memorizing session in the cabin

On the Federal Territory Day, since we were on leave, June and I took a peek at the Tahfiz Center’s Office Cabin. A tahfiz group, led by our Coordinator, Ustazah Roslina, filled up the cabin. It looked and sounded quiet from the outside but once we opened the door and went inside the sound of Quran recitations reverberated through the cabin. I counted 12 students.

Alhamdulillah, the cabin muffled outside noises making their memorization session pleasant. I wish we can have many more cabins, or similar spaces, like this for our tahfiz’s children. I wonder how much improvements it would bring to their performance.

One thing for sure, noises and disturbances steal away focus and snatch energy. That is why, we at the Kelab Kelas Tahfiz makes the alleviation of infrastructural issues as one of our main objectives.

For those who are new, the Tahfiz Center refurbished the cabin last year. When we got permission to use it in April 2007, the cabin posed a threat to the students of the school. The security guards found and killed two venomous snakes that made the dilapidated cabin their home. You can follow the illustrated cabin refurbishment project here … cabin project.

Kelab Kelas Tahfiz refurbished the cabin for RM4k and the Tahfiz Center started using it in July 2007. The cabin’s 20 by 10 feet space catered for many uses. It serves as the Tahfiz Center’s office, Instructors’ rest room, tahfiz students’ activity room, and tahfiz class.

“Alhamdulillah, semalam ana telah mengikuti lawatan Persatuan Tahfiz Al-Amin (PeTA) ke Darul Quran (DQ) di Ampang Pecah, Kuala Kubu Baru. Visit to Darul Quran (DQ) JAKIM, Kuala Kubu

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

Alhamdulillah, the trip to DQ on Saturday 2-Jun-2007, jointly organised by Persatuan Tahfiz Al-Amin (PETA) and ATACE, went well. In fact it went so smoothly that we were overwhelmed with the feelings of gratitude to Allah the Almighty. We managed to get the bus at the very last minute–it was only confirmed at 9pm the night before the trip–and the busses (we got a blue “Bas Pekerja” in the morning and “Bas Pesiaran” in the evening) took us to and fro DQ in comfort and style.

Background of the Trip

The President of PETA, Br. M. Aizuddin Abdul Wahab, prepared the working paper for the trip. He outlined the following objectives of the trip:

  • Membentuk bi’ah solehah di kalangan pelajar
  • Menjana semangat cinta akan Al-Quran
  • Membentuk sahsiah dan akhlak Islam
  • Meneroka dan menghayati isi-isi yang terkandung di dalam Al-Quran
  • Mengeratkan ukhuwwah sesama pelajar dan antara pelajar dan guru
  • Meningkatkan kekuatan rohani di dalam diri
  • Memantapkan amalan jama’i di kalangan pelajar terhadap Al-Quran

Participants of trip

Although the trip was fully sponsored by ATACE, only a handful of students joined the trip–”… those chosen by Allah,” aptly put by the YDP of Persatuan Kebajikan Maahad Tahfiz (PERKEMAT) in his welcoming speech.

Apart from ATACE teachers (Ustz Roslina, Ust Amin, Ust Abubakar, Ustz Naim, Ustz Nailah) who came along, we were lucky to have some SMIAA Alumni sisters, who have just completed their certificate courses in the DQ, volunteering their time to accompany their brothers and sisters during the trip. The SMIAA Alumni sisters, who are still studying at the DQ, were also there when our bus arrived and they came out in force to meet ATACE students. May Allah reward them for their initiatives.

Our gracious host …

Sis Zila YDIdibah of PERKEMATPERKEMAT hosted the visit. They inspired ATACE students with their speeches and exemplary characters. Special thanks we dedicate to the YDP, Br Zool Amali, the YDibah Sis Zila, the MC/Secretary, Br Muaz, and all the facilitators of the PERKEMAT.Br Zool Amali YDP of PERKEMAT

Starts and ends well, Alhamdulillah

The Vise President of PETA, Br Abdullah Hafidz, played his role well. He gave outstanding intro and parting speeches. And Puan Junaidah gave a short, memorable speech on behalf of the parents, mothers especially, and ATACE.
