Memorizing session in the cabin

On the Federal Territory Day, since we were on leave, June and I took a peek at the Tahfiz Center’s Office Cabin. A tahfiz group, led by our Coordinator, Ustazah Roslina, filled up the cabin. It looked and sounded quiet from the outside but once we opened the door and went inside the sound of Quran recitations reverberated through the cabin. I counted 12 students.

Alhamdulillah, the cabin muffled outside noises making their memorization session pleasant. I wish we can have many more cabins, or similar spaces, like this for our tahfiz’s children. I wonder how much improvements it would bring to their performance.

One thing for sure, noises and disturbances steal away focus and snatch energy. That is why, we at the Kelab Kelas Tahfiz makes the alleviation of infrastructural issues as one of our main objectives.

For those who are new, the Tahfiz Center refurbished the cabin last year. When we got permission to use it in April 2007, the cabin posed a threat to the students of the school. The security guards found and killed two venomous snakes that made the dilapidated cabin their home. You can follow the illustrated cabin refurbishment project here … cabin project.

Kelab Kelas Tahfiz refurbished the cabin for RM4k and the Tahfiz Center started using it in July 2007. The cabin’s 20 by 10 feet space catered for many uses. It serves as the Tahfiz Center’s office, Instructors’ rest room, tahfiz students’ activity room, and tahfiz class.

The leaders -- Isa & Rahim

We held our third AJK Kelab Kelas Tahfiz meeting on Jan 19, 2008 mainly to discuss the Tahfiz Center’s plans for this year. The Tahfiz Center faces another challenging year to raise enough funds to finance operations of the center. Fee alone covers only 80% of operational costs (assuming that we manage to maintain 90% collection rate).

As we continue nurturing aspiring students to realize their dream of becoming huffazs, we actively make adjustments and improvements. It is a process that continues. And with new faces in the AJK, insya-Allah we have the resources to be resourceful and do our best to make the Tahfiz Center a success story.

After the meeting, we visited the cabin. The cabin looks ok especially now that one side of it was cleared for access road to the car parks by the river.
